Hair loss is indeed a highly undesirable and disturbing factor for any individual. Unfortunately hair loss is experienced globally by more than half the population and sadly most of them experience it in early thirties or even in twenties. Lately we hear quite a lot of innovative techniques from entire hair implants to laser treatments which would treat or conceal the baldness instantly. The traditional hair loss treatments such as herbal or medical oils or shampoos for external application are available and progressing as well. Why would the hair loss appear in the first place, is it the hereditary factor alone or does anything else matter? What are the ways to treat them? How effective are the treatments? Well all those who have begun to experience hair loss would like to know about these.
Hair loss could be a result of a wide range of factors from genetic reasons to climate change. A very common reason for hair loss is due to disease or as side-effect from medicines used to treat a medical condition. Medical problems that cause hair loss are renal failures, liver disease, and conditions affecting the glands such as pituitary, adrenal and thyroid glands, anemia, anesthesia and so on. Even simple viral infections or fever could cause temporary hair loss. The medical treatments provided would be the major reason for hair loss in majority of people. Chemotherapy, seizure medication, blood pressure medication, cholesterol lowering medication and drug toxicity are a few to list. However individual tolerance to drugs may vary, hence it may not result in the same amount of hair loss among all individuals. The deficiency of certain minerals and vitamins such as zinc, protein, iron and some other essential fatty acids may cause hair loss. Among women, child birth and menopause may trigger the balance of hormones in the body and result in increased hair loss.
Treating hair loss is the next step and the earlier the better and quicker to get back to desired result. Treatments using external application on scalp or drugs taken orally are less expensive than those such as hair transplants. The drugs taken orally or for external application can again be herbal or medical. Herbal treatments are proved to be safer with no side effects and provide permanent remedy. However using chemical treatments may offer quicker results, but may provide side effects such as skin rashes or hormonal imbalance. It is safer to opt for external treatment only and avoid taking drugs orally. However prescribed intake of vitamin supplements that promotes hair growth is an effective and healthy procedure.
Though there are lots of brands available in open market, it is better to consult a dermatologist before choosing one. This is important since a medical diagnosis would prove the exact reasons of hair loss and treatment can be provided appropriately. Stress is a major contributor for hair loss. A healthy diet, relaxed lifestyle, minimal cosmetic treatments and proper care for those gifted tresses would help prevent hair loss from occurring in the first place.
